Inscrutable Chinese Monkeys

What are the Chinese really up to when outfitting “transgenic” monkeys with human genes?

Now scientists in southern China report that they’ve tried to narrow the evolutionary gap, creating several transgenic macaque monkeys with extra copies of a human gene suspected of playing a role in shaping human intelligence. 

“This was the first attempt to understand the evolution of human cognition using a transgenic monkey model,” says Bing Su, the geneticist at the Kunming Institute of Zoology who led the effort. 

According to their findings, the modified monkeys did better on a memory test involving colors and block pictures, and their brains also took longer to develop—as those of human children do. There wasn’t a difference in brain size.

Researchers say they’re studying brain evolution in humans, using genetically similar monkeys in part to isolate that fraction of our otherwise shared genome that makes us human.

Clearly the Chinese are funding research like this to develop techniques for genetic enhancement of intelligence.

Su, a researcher at the Kunming Institute of Zoology, specializes in searching for signs of “Darwinian selection”—that is, genes that have been spreading because they’re successful. His quest has spanned such topics as Himalayan yaks’ adaptation to high altitude and the evolution of human skin color in response to cold winters.  

The biggest riddle of all, though, is intelligence. What we know is that our humanlike ancestors’ brains rapidly grew in size and power. To find the genes that caused the change, scientists have sought out differences between humans and chimpanzees, whose genes are about 98% similar to ours. The objective, says, Sikela, was to locate “the jewels of our genome”—that is, the DNA that makes us uniquely human.

The Chinese want to understand and manipulate the genetic processes behind human intelligence. For them the evolutionary course of their race is too important to be left to chance.

Moscow archives show that in the mid-1920s Russia’s top animal breeding scientist, Ilya Ivanov, was ordered to turn his skills from horse and animal work to the quest for a super-warrior. 

According to Moscow newspapers, Stalin told the scientist: “I want a new invincible human being, insensitive to pain, resistant and indifferent about the quality of food they eat.”

Alas, robots render the Human-Ape super soldier obsolete before he’s out of the lab. But the Chinese are working hard to ensure the superiority of their robots, and everything else, by ensuring the superiority of their intelligence.

Pat Buchanan, in cataloging the vortex of demagogy that is the still-young 2020 Democratic campaign for the presidency:

At the end of a week where he withdrew his nominee to head Immigration and Customs Enforcement and saw the departure of his Secretary of Homeland Security, Trump, referring to the 175,000 migrants apprehended crossing the U.S. border in February and March, protested repeatedly, “Our country is full.”

Echoes of Hitler’s Germany, said The Washington Post:

“Adolf Hitler promised ‘living space’ for Germans as the basis of an expansionist project, which historians said distinguishes the Third Reich from today’s xenophobic governments. Still, experts found parallels.

The Post is stumbling on the real distinction between our time and their cherished 1930’s: the complete and alarming reverse of demographic pressure.

Western colonialism resulted from expanding populations. Colonization going back to the Greeks has been impelled by expanding populations. Germany’s problem was neither new nor unique–and they didn’t have such as the British Empire to draw off surplus men and energy.

Demographics still drive colonization. Only now the Western populations contract while the former colonized world expands. Africa above all needs living space. Globalist anti-nationalists promise it to them and profit when they deliver.

Various colonies arise and expand, snapping up the good ol’ gibs and lebensraum.

This photograph is the Democrats’ dilemma, distilled.

At twenty percent of Democrats blacks punch above their weight. But they’ve earned their group privilege by way of, to put it nicely, screwing up. Black dysfunction–crime, professional mediocrity, poverty–is converted into political power by demagogy aided by the religious commandment that black problems all result from white racism.

Liberals, progressives, black and white, all do protest too much: they love black misery. In a time of moral obscurity, it appeases the vanity of liberal whites as well as self-interested blacks. They’re actually comforted by the idea that it will always be there, cornerstone of the Narrative.

In this environment black indignation grows with appeasement, and the Democrats are riding this whirlwind:

The candidate personally promised Sharpton that an O’Rourke White House would sign a measure to pursue slavery reparations for African Americans. He also committed to bring back robust civil rights oversight of local police departments in the form of consent decrees, an enforcement mechanism largely abandoned by the Trump administration. 

 Sharpton was pleased. But he made clear the Sharpton primary is just getting underway.
“What are you talking about, you like him?” he said into the mic – only half joking – to a fellow activist. “You didn’t hear the rest of the candidates yet.”  

Caution was not a trait associated with Sharpton in the past, but in his role as political kingmaker he strategically bides his time. He leaves open the possibility that even the most unlikely candidate could get his blessing. 

Every Democrat is trying.

 Sharpton is scarier than AIPAC on the Democratic side now, and this rare living leader of a genuine antisemitic pogrom is further evidence Jews are losing control of the party to the new, non-white generation. There’s an opening here for Trump and the Republicans if they only have the nerve (they don’t) to challenge black privilege–which is to call out black failure and the slander of blaming it on racism. To adopt Steve Sailer’s strategy proposal of ten years ago and just accept the branding: Democrats as the Black Party and Republicans as the White Party

But let’s be realistic. Being, in essence, the white party makes the GOP uncool. And that’s only going to get worse as the impact of decades of indoctrination in the uncoolness of white people by the school system and Main Stream Media continue to pile up. 

Further, contra Karl Rove, the GOP will never be able to shake its white party image. It will either increase its share of the white vote or it will go out of business as a party capable of winning national power. 

My suggestion: the only long-term option for the Republicans, the de facto white party, is to rebrand the Democrats as the de facto black party. 

Not the Minority Party or the Cool, Hip, Multicultural Party—but the Black Party. Go with the flow of the fundamental Manichaeism of American thought: Black versus White.

Cast the Democrats as the party of black chaos–they increasingly are. The party you party with, maybe, but don’t want running things; against the party of boring, honest white guys. The Republicans can at least bring the boring part.

Alas, it would be great. I have the slogan: “White Guys. Give ’em another look.”

Meet the New Boss, Not Same as the Old Boss

 “Me Too” and similar social justice movements are intended as cultural neutron bombs, eliminating people but leaving infrastructure intact. The point is not to do away with Hollywood or Silicon Valley but to seize a piece of the action.

These two aren’t just any industries–not just allies of social justice but its propaganda arms. If Globo Homo had a corporate board, Hollywood and Silicon Valley would sit on it.

Applying social justice to the enforcers of social justice was always going to be sticky. Silicon Valley stumbles and convulses in its attempts to diversify, as we saw from the James Damore affair. But what that embarrassment for Google also revealed–and I hope they got due credit in Right-Thinking circles–was the company’s earnest efforts on behalf of Diversity. By God they really seem to believe this stuff and are diligently working against merit and value to achieve it.

Hollywood, the jewel of Diversity’s cultural empire, was once too important to be encumbered with diversity. That time is up. A new diverse generation has come up and they’re only too well conditioned by the propaganda–the “white males” of Hollywood will have to yield.

An older generation that knows it’s all a con is being supplanted by one that doesn’t. One that has taken the con to heart, as a religion. The older crew, knowing they were full of it, held some residual shame–the new gang, as true believers, have none. Most young leftists applaud the sacking of dread White Males with names like Cohen and Weinstein–discouraging the anti-semitic trope of Jewish Hollywood has worked only too well.

Overwhelmingly Jewish men have been displaced by the Me Too movement, and where there would normally be a vocal chorus declaring them victims of anti-semitism there is embarrassed, sensible silence. With the sort of rarity associated with a solar eclipse, Jews have lost control of the narrative.

 It fell to Larry David to break the silence. It had to be. This is after all the recurring joke around which his show is based: Larry notices; Larry speaks; Larry suffers censure. 

The ethnic nature of the feminist power grab in Hollywood is incidental. The ethnic nature of the generational shift going on in the Democratic Party however broke embarrassingly out into the open when Ilan Omar, intersectional powerhouse, triumphed over Nancy Pelosi and the DNC as if she simply didn’t know any better.

Before you know it people are sitting out AIPAC to avoid riling the base:

Progressive groups like MoveOn.org had urged 2020 presidential candidates not to attend the annual conference. The crowded Democratic field is battling to appeal to its progressive base as the party continues to lurch further to the left.
AIPAC’s conference comes on the backdrop of a political firestorm that erupted in the wake of comments made by freshman Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota about Israel that many have interpreted as anti-Semitic. It also comes as freshman Democratic lawmakers are increasingly vocal and critical of the U.S.-Israel relationship.

There will soon be no neoconservative element left in the Democratic Party at this rate.

The Left’s third column, non-governmental activism, is undergoing a similar generational and ethnic power-grab, with the mysterious seizure of the Southern Poverty Law Center from its mastermind Morris Dees, for undisclosed indiscretions and an organizational lack of revolutionary zeal evidenced in a lack of diversity.

Tina Tchen showed up like a commissar to clean house, and the next two high-ranking Jews, Richard Cohen and Rhonda Brownstein, were quickly out, the former for vague and the latter giving no reasons for resigning. These people were forced out. Tchen’s job is to diversify the too “white” SPLC; the organization has been wrenched from Jewish hands. And as with Hollywood’s horn-dog problem, no one on the Jewish side will dare point it out.

And New America is just getting started.

Place That Quote: Hitler or the Pope?

Even a fool can be profound taken out of context:

“If someone tells young people to ignore their history, to reject the experiences of their elders, to look down on the past and to look forward to a future that he holds out, doesn’t it then become easy to draw them along so that they only do what he tells them?”

“He needs the young to be shallow, uprooted and distrustful, so that they can trust only in his promises and act according to his plans.” 

That’s the Pope inveighing against populism, somehow, on behalf of progressive secular globalism. This could have been one of the more insightful passages in Mein Kampf.

It’s testament to globalism’s power the Church won’t touch right-wing populism with a ten-foot crosier. Despite right-wing populism being its natural ally against degeneracy, abortion, war; despite it being the last defender of religion and the status of the Church, for the love of you know Who!
